What good would cataloging all your video tapes be if you couldn't easily search them to find the clips you are after?
The search field lets you search in two different ways: All Tapes or by Selection. If you search by tapes then as soon as you start typing FootTrack shows you in real-time the tapes and clips that match what you've typed:
You can also restrict your search to the 'name' or 'description' fields instead if matching all attributes gives unwanted results.
When you select a tape or a group of clips and type into the search field many attributes are looked at to find matching clips.
- The name and description of any subgroups are searched. If either match the search keyword(s) then all the clips in that group are added.
- The name and description of each clip that wasn't matched in the first step is checked to see if it matches.
- The recorded date for the clip. Searching for 2003 will return all video clips with a recorded date of 2003.
This is just a quick tour of some of the features of FootTrack. There are other very useful features such as smart groups, exporting to a batch capture list or csv (comma separated values) and burning your cataloged tapes to CD/DVD too.
If you'd like to give it a try and see how nice and organized your video tapes can be download FootTrack and give it a try. It comes with a 'Quickstart Guide' and extensive online help.
