After you've captured and compressed the video clips on your tape you'll need to name and give descriptions to your clips, and optionally organized them into logical groups. These steps will help when it comes time to search.
 |
This snapshot from the tape/group viewer shows a video tape with its clips grouped in a number of logical groups.
Selecting 'Feb - April 5 2003' will display all the video clips on the tape. Selecting any of the subgroups will display the clips in that group.
If you did a search for 'Dinosaur' it would match the last group and all the group's clips would be added to the search results.
|
The clip inspector is where you can set your clip name and description as well as see the attributes for your selected video clip.

Notice that FootTrack keeps lots of useful information about your video clips. Some of the information needs to be entered manually but other information is grabbed when the video is imported/captured. The timecode can be used to recapture the original DV footage for a given clip.
Once you have your clips cataloged you can try out FootTrack's powerful searching. Click the link below to see how it works.

| There are lots of good ways to organize your clips that the tour doesn't highlight. |
 |
| There's arbitrary groups that can hold clips from any tape. |
 |
| There's smart groups which change dynamically depending upon the criteria you set (much like iTunes smart playlists). |
